The weekend will soon be upon us, but before then I would like to send you this month's infomail.
I've heard from several people that the collection and reporting of CO2e data from transport is becoming more and more important.
That's why I've put together an important introduction to CO2e data collection and a few tips on how to go about it in your organisation.
Let's get started.
Get started collecting and reporting CO2e data on transport
You're probably familiar with ESG and may have heard of CSRD and ESRS, including CO2e reporting. But how and where do you start?
CO2e reporting, CSRD and ESRS
CSRD is the EU's new directive that standardises ESG reporting and introduces stricter requirements, including CO2e reporting.
ESRS is designed to ensure consistent ESG data across companies and serves as the foundation for CSRD. ESRS sets standards for corporate sustainability data reporting, including CO2e reporting.
When should you start reporting under CSRD?
- From the financial year 2024, the new requirements apply to listed companies with over 500 employees
- From the 2025 financial year, the requirements apply to all companies with over 250 employees
- From the financial year 2026, the requirements also apply to listed companies with less than 250 employees. With the exception of micro-enterprises.
The EU is also developing a set of voluntary standards that companies not covered by CSRD can use.
Even if you are not required to report on CO2, you should still expect that Customers, suppliers and other actors in the value chain will make demands on your carbon calculations and data.
Standards, methods and calculation models
There are several different standards, methods and calculation models to calculate CO2e emissions.
The most important thing is that you are transparent about the methods you use - it's easier to report on and easier to understand.

Pay attention to how your carriers calculate CO2e
Each carrier uses different methods and data points, so it's Important to investigate and be sure of how each carrier calculates their CO2e data.
If you don't want the hassle but want to make sure your CO2e data is accurate, you can calculate your CO2e data yourself - either manually or with an automated solution.
